Gartland Foundry Donates Walk of Fame Plaques to City of Terre Haute
The City of Terre Haute is creating a Walk of Fame to recognize residents and individuals that spent their formative years in the Wabash Valley and have made a significant and positive contribution to their profession and impact on the history or culture of the Wabash Valley.
"This is going to be a very impressive project by the time all is said and done," said Fred Nation, an official with Hulman and Co. and a member of the Walk of Fame committee.
The cost of making the plaques is being donated by Gartland Foundry, a business with deep roots in Terre Haute, said William Grimes, president of the company. Making the initial mold for the plaques will cost several thousand dollars, and each plaque will involve hundreds more dollars in setup and production costs, he said.
"We just feel it's important," Grimes said. "We're glad to be a part of it."
Gartland Foundry Installs New Highly
Automated Sinto Molding Machine
Gartland renews its commitment to reinvesting in the foundry
operations by installing a new Sinto FBO-X 20x24 molding machine.
The November 2008 installation is a key component in Gartland's
recapitalization plan.

This machine incorporates the latest in green sand molding technology
and is serviced by a brand new Vulcan Engineering Model 3H Mold
handling line.
The new FBOX molding machine will give Gartland additional capacity
to produce customers' parts more efficiently and timely. Gartland
already achieves 98% on time delivery and now the ability to
achieve even better (100%) is well within reach.
The new FBOX, in conjunction with the current FBO-III molding
machine, gives Gartland another key capital expenditure to insure
better customer service.

Department of Labor Awards Gartland Foundry Safety and Health Award
The Indiana Department of Labor awarded the Indiana Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (INSHARP) certification to Gartland Foundry for the second time on October 16, 2009. This continues to demonstrate Gartland's commitment to employee health and safety. Gartland has been the recipient of this award since November 29, 2007.
INSHARP, one of Indiana's exemplary safety
and health recognition programs, was established to recognize
and promote safety and health management programs throughout
the state. Based on benchmarks for advancement and development
of safety and health programs within the workplace, INSHARP
status can be achieved when management and employees work together
to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Gartland Foundry is the only iron foundry,
and is among an elite few manufacturers, in Indiana to have
